1. The Housing Justice Project (HJP) provides free legal assistance to low-income tenants who have received an eviction summons and/or who have an active filed eviction case in King County or Spokane County Superior Court. As part of HJP’s screening and intake, you will be asked whether you consent or do not consent to HJP sending you texts (SMS or Short Message Service) at the mobile phone number that you provide. If you opt-in, we will send you information such as:
- Appointment reminders, updates, or alerts related to your case or our services;
- Information about programs, events, or legal rights that may affect you;
- Communications about scheduling or service availability; or
- Other communications and outreach.
2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP” to any message or by contacting us directly. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just inform the HJP staff member you are assigned to and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
3. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply "HELP" to any message, or contact us directly by phone, email or in-person at our clinics at the contact information listed below.
4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages
5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency will vary depending on your relationship with us and the services you receive. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
