Presentation: “Where Are We/Where We’re Going: Current Trends and The Impact of AI on Trademark Registration” by John Halski, Partner – Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC

The path to trademark registration may be growing more difficult at the same time that brand owners are looking for opportunities to broaden their brand protection in the face of AI. On the one hand, recent trends suggest that the USPTO is applying stricter standards to trademark applications at the examination stage. On the other hand, many brand owners are eager to expand their registration portfolios, both to leverage the positive benefits of AI and to brace for the negative impacts AI can have on their rights. This presentation will cover best practices for brand owners and their legal counsel in light of recent trends at the USPTO and the AI-driven changes on the horizon.
