Summary

Presentation: “How to Effectively Work with Parenting Coordinators and Guardian ad Litems” presented by Caroline Plummer, MS, LMHC & Nancy Weil, JD

In the first part of this program, Caroline Plummer will provide an overview of how a Parenting Coordinator can support families involved in high-conflict custody matters. She will describe her approach of front-loading interventions in collaboration with attorneys to increase the likelihood of success. She will also discuss how a Parenting Coordinator can effectively intervene in family crises, including cases involving resist/refuse dynamics between parents and children.

Then, Nancy Weil will speak about working effectively with a Guardian ad Litem: what we need from you, what you can expect from us, and how to prepare your clients for this stressful process. She will also discuss some ideas to modify current procedures and methods to better address the needs of high conflict families.
