Summary

Presentation: “California Employment Law Updates for Non-California Attorneys” by Alyson Claire Decker, CEO, Alyson Claire Law, Prof. Corp.

As California goes, so goes the nation. From paid sick leave to prohibiting broad non-disclosure clauses in many employee settlements, when it comes to employment law, California is a trendsetter. In February, join us for a preview of new laws in effect in 2024 that could impact our business clients with California employees and possibly foreshadow where Washington employment law is headed. Specifically, Alyson will discuss:

•             the unique nature of the patchwork of local wage and hour regulations in the Golden State

•             changes to Paid Sick Leave and other leave laws at the state level

•             new stricter anti-non-compete legislation

•             some industry specific minimum wage stumbling blocks, and

•             caste discrimination by any other name.
