Summary

Presentation: "Developing the Next Generation: Youth Peer Mediation and Restorative Justice in King County", by Fergie Rodriguez, Sharon Moon, and Alexis Mburu

As the county has expanded investments to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline, dispute resolution in area public schools, including peer mediation programs, conflict resolution training and coaching is expanding to meet the needs of vulnerable communities. This session will discuss the past, present and future ambitions of the Dispute Resolution Center of King County as it serves its mission and the legislative intent for dispute resolution centers (DRCs) to "encourage continuing community participation in the development, administration, and oversight of local programs designed to facilitate the informal resolution of disputes between and among members of the community."
