After President Orehoski called the meeting to order, the Board approved the meeting minutes for the Board meetings on June 6, June 21 (with minor changes), and July 19, 2023. Treasurer Wang reported that KCBA exceeded its revenue goals significantly this year, mostly because of improved membership numbers and increased grants which were not guaranteed in the original budgeting process.

The following are highlights from the KCBA Board of Trustees meetings held on July 19, convened by KCBA President Karen Orehoski.

On June 13, the Board had a special meeting regarding the hiring of a new Executive Director. After President Watson opened the meeting, members of the hiring committee presented their recommendation to hire Christina Coad as the Executive Director. After their presentation, they introduced Ms. Coad to the Board.

President Watson thanked everyone for their hard work and dedication. She also reminded them to attend the June 13 meeting. The Board then approved the March minutes by voice vote.

New Lawyers Division Chair Ben Byers presented highlights from the Spring Soirée, which honored mentors and raised $2,000 for the Pro Bono Emergency fund. Chair Byers thanked KCBA staff for helping the New Lawyer’s Division. ABA Liaison Kathleen Hopkins gave a shout out to Byers and the NLD volunteers for putting together annual care kits.
