Winter and seasonal affective disorder (SAD) are around the corner. Trying to get more sunlight, staying socially connected, and practicing self-compassion are a few strategies for coping with the winter blues. Helping alleviate associated symptoms with SAD helps our personal as well as our professional lives. Just my two cents.
Associate Additions
Zachary Schroeder has joined Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC, as an associate. Previously, Schroeder was a summer associate with the firm and law clerk with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. Schroeder earned his B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.
Haley Westman has joined Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC, as an associate. Westman was previously a summer associate with the firm, law clerk with the Washington State Office of the Attorney General, and an assistant at Perkins Coie LLP. Westman earned her B.A. from the University of Puget Sound and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.
Dana Mydland has joined Lane Powell PC as an associate. Mydland’s practice focuses on guiding employers through complex business and employment disputes through all stages of litigation. Previously, Mydland was an associate at Cozen O’Connor and at Selman Breitman LLP. Mydland clerked for the Washington State Court of Appeals. She obtained her B.A. from Washington State University and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.

Long-time member Kevin J. Collette is retiring on October 31, 2023. Collette began his legal career at Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC, 43 years ago in 1980 and served as Chair of the firm’s Business Practice Group for 23 years. Collette also led the firm’s Trademarks, Franchise, and Technology groups, as well as the firm’s Computerization Task Force in 1987.
Obituaries
Gregory Ross Harris has passed away. After graduating from UC Hastings Law School in 1971, Harris practiced in California for 10 years before moving to Seattle. Harris worked at Barokas & Martin and then joined Ater Wynne. Harris worked in-house for R.C. Hedreen Company until his retirement.
