Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Luncheon 2026

“The time is always right to do what is right.”
— Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,

On January 16, the Seattle Convention Center was filled to capacity as lawyers, judges, and community leaders gathered for the King County Bar Association’s 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon. It was the largest turnout in years and a powerful reflection of our community’s shared commitment to justice.

Attendees were inspired by keynote speaker Cornell Brooks, whose electrifying address challenged us to meet this moment in history with courage, integrity, and resolve. A fourth-generation ordained minister, civil rights attorney, and nationally recognized advocate for justice, Professor Brooks called on the legal community to not only remember Dr. King’s vision, but to actively carry it forward in our profession, our institutions, and our daily lives.

His message was both urgent and hopeful: the pursuit of equality under the law requires sustained commitment, collective action, and an unwavering belief in the promise of justice for all.

KCBA extends its deepest gratitude to our sponsors, whose support made this gathering possible, and to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee for their leadership in creating a meaningful and unifying community event.
