Your NLD: Growing, Gathering, and Getting Everyone Involved

By Heather Maloney

Checking In: As 2025 comes to a close, your New Lawyers Division board is hard at work planning for a strong start to 2026. The Communications Committee has been gearing up for the inaugural edition of our newsletter. This new medium is such an exciting way to communicate about all things NLD.

Our CLE Committee is working hard to line up great CLE offerings in early 2026. Our Community Involvement Committee has been seeking opportunities for NLD to get involved and give back, starting with our upcoming volunteer legal clinic in December. See below for how to get involved.

Your NLD board is excited to deliver more to our membership in 2026. We hope that as our membership and programs grow, we will continue to effectively support new lawyer members of KCBA.

Happenings: On Thursday, Oct. 23, the NLD board was proud to host Fall Fest, a night of Bier, Brats & Bocce at Rhein Haus, Seattle. Members met friends, old and new, and socialized while celebrating Oktoberfest in style.

For a Tee Off event Thursday, Nov. 20, NLD members again mixed and mingled at the Flatstick Pub at South Lake Union and enjoyed appetizers and beverages while working toward making a tricky hole-in-one. Fun was had by all!

Feedback from NLD members reinforced for us how important these occasions to network and socialize are. Your NLD Social Events Committee is happy to keep on facilitating awesome events to bring people together.

Coming Up: Here’s an opportunity to give back this holiday season. Join us to volunteer at our upcoming legal clinic at the KCBA office on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. NLD is partnering with Tacoma Pro Bono to provide family law advice to individuals in Pierce County at this phone clinic in a supportive group setting. Attorneys and law students welcome.

In fact, this event is open to all KCBA members and should be fun and fulfilling. Dinner will be provided! Sign up in advance using the QR code below.
