What a great way to start the day! Thanks to everyone who turned out bright and early at the Westin on May 6. Your participation made this a hugely successful event.

Attendees heard from Ariel Archie, a Seattle University School of Law student and recipient of a KCBA Minority Law Scholarship. Ariel gave a rousing testimony to his commitment to the law as a queer, Black, first-generation college attendee, and the positive impact the scholarship had on him and how much it meant to him to be selected.

Hon. Paris Kallas (ret.) introduced a video detailing one case from our pro bono Domestic Violence Legal Advocacy Project (DV LEAD), which was both moving and memorable, underlining the critical work all our pro bono programs undertake.

Keynote speaker Steve Pemberton delivered an inspirational and timely speech that encouraged us all to be “lighthouses” during periods of trouble and discord.

This year, we raised nearly $300,000 to support both our pro bono programs and our minority law scholarships at the University of Washington and Seattle University law schools. It’s not too late to contribute, and every dollar makes a difference. Go to www.kcba.org/donate to make your contribution today.

Thank you to all our attendees, sponsors, and donors — we couldn’t have done it without you!
