Statement In Support of Susman Godfrey - KCBA NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

News and Announcements

Posted on: May 1, 2025

This brief, filed by KCBA and many other bar associations and supporting injunctive relief for the law firm Susman Godfrey, was filed on 4/25/25. KCBA thanks and acknowledges the work of Protect Democracy Project and students at the Harvard School of Law, which made this briefing possible.

Susman Godfrey, like Perkins Coie, was recently targeted in an executive order, for “degrad[ing] the quality of American elections” and because the firm “supports efforts to discriminate on the basis of race” by offering employment opportunities to students of color. The firm represented Dominion Voting Systems, which prevailed in its defamation case against Fox News.

The KCBA Board of Trustees agreed to join in this amicus brief for the same reasons we support the work of Perkins Coie. Both firms have taken a courageous stand to protect and defend the rule of law.

In supporting the request for injunctive relief, KCBA is in the good company of the New York City Bar, the Boston Bar, the Chicago Bar, the Denver Bar, the LA County Bar, the New York County bar, the Philadelphia Bar, the San Diego Bar, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Colorado Bar Association and  many affinity, specialty, regional, and local bar associations and lawyer membership associations.

This statement is not intended to speak for individual members of KCBA.
