Did You Know? The KCBA New Lawyers Division is currently seeking applications and nominations for the 2025–2026 board service term. Volunteering for the NLD Board of Trustees is a great way to get involved with KCBA NLD and network with other attorneys in their first 10 years of practice.
While on the board, volunteer opportunities range from hosting impactful CLEs, coordinating and attending NLD social events, and giving back by offering your experiences to new lawyers just entering the legal profession. Trustees on the NLD board serve terms of two to three years on rotating cycles. Trustees for the 2025–2026 term begin service July 1, 2025. Self-nominations are welcome!

Happenings: The NLD’s biggest event of the year, the Spring Soiree held on March 27, was a smashing success! With 86 attendees, the event raised $4,400 to benefit the KCBA DV LEAD Project, a KCBA pro bono program that aids domestic violence survivors. The Soiree provided members and guests the opportunity to socialize and network while enjoying the marvelous ambiance of The Rainier Club. Fun was had by all!
Also, on April 3 the NLD hosted a panel at Seattle University for law students about the transition from school to practice and the challenges faced by new lawyers. Students asked questions and gained insight from attorneys new to the profession. It was a day full of engagement and insight, and pizza we served from Pagliacci’s!
On April 19, NLD members gave back by participating in Food Lifeline by packing and sorting food for distribution to members of our community dealing with food insecurity. The NLD is proud to make an impact in our community through this donation of time.
And finally, the NLD hosted a CLE with Court Dogs on April 24 at Corr Cronin. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the value and benefits that our furry friends can bring to court. This CLE was a one-of-a-kind experience followed by a happy hour with a chance to network with the dogs themselves!
Coming Up: The NLD is excited to host a DEI CLE coming up in May, followed by a happy hour. Come earn an equity CLE credit on these important issues followed by an opportunity to network complete with snacks and beverages. We hope to see you there!
