Did you know? The KCBA New Lawyers Division is currently seeking applications and nominations for the 2025–2026 board service term. Volunteering as a Trustee is a great way to get involved with KCBA NLD and network with other attorneys in their first 10 years of practice! While on the board, volunteer opportunities range from hosting impactful CLE’s, coordinating and attending NLD social events and giving back by offering your experiences to new lawyers just entering the legal profession. Trustees serving on the NLD board serve terms of two to three years on rotating cycles. Trustees for the 2025–2026 service term begin service on July 1, 2025. Self-nominations are welcome! Visit the KCBA NLD webpage for more information, a link to the applicant questionnaire and to upload your resume or just use the handy QR code located on this page.

Happenings: The NLD hosted a virtual speed networking event on Wednesday February 12th. At the event, mentors and mentees met virtually and discussed topics ranging from starting out in law practice to resources for new attorneys. The event was a great opportunity for all participants to network and socialize as well. Additionally, the NLD was proud to partner with the WSBA Young Lawyers Division to host a post bar exam happy hour following the end of the February bar exam at Seven Seas Brewery. Bar exam takers had a chance to unwind with snacks and beverages and learn more about what the WSBA Young Lawyers Division and KCBA NLD have to offer new attorneys entering the profession. After a grueling bar exam, the chance to network and socialize was enjoyed by all! Finally, we want to share that Seattle University Law Review’s Online Journal (SULRO) is seeking authors! SULRO is focused on highlighting the expertise of local practitioners and is open to publishing full articles, essays, blog posts, or comments. Publishing (even a blog post) with SULRO provides you all the benefits of publication with Seattle University Law Review, but in a more flexible format. If you have written or are currently working on a piece and are interested in publishing, please reach out to esparks@seattleu.edu.

Coming Up: In addition to accepting nominations for NLD Trustee positions the NLD asks you to mark your calendars for some exciting upcoming events! On March 6th the NLD will host a virtual CLE on Pro Bono opportunities. Learn more at the event about how you can get involved in pro bono work, give back and make a difference! Also be sure to save the date for the NLD’s biggest event of the year, the Spring Soiree! This year’s soiree will be held on March 27th from 5:00–7:30pm at The Rainer Club located at 820 Fourth Avenue, Seattle. All members are welcome to this fun social event offering light refreshments, a silent auction to raise funds for KCBA’s pro bono programs and great opportunities to network with others in the KCBA community! Sponsorship opportunities for the Spring Soirée are now available! Please reach out to Bridget Schuster at bridgets@kcba.org for more information about sponsorship opportunities.”
