“ …if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness.”
– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 1968

Huge appreciation to the many lawyers, judges, and community members who joined King County Bar at Seattle Convention Center on January 17, 2025 for this year’s MLK Luncheon. Every year we invite a Keynote Speaker who will encourage us to remember, and live by, Dr. King’s message that every individual is entitled to equality and justice under the law.

This year’s speaker, Dr. Marsha Currin McGriff, the esteemed scholar and practitioner with over two decades of experience in advancing global competence and cultural intelligence within higher education, took up the challenge with grace, providing a moving and inspiring speech that touched on the challenges we are facing across our country today and what we can do to keep the dream of Dr. King alive.

Heartfelt gratitude to our Master of Ceremonies, Daniel Hsieh; to Courtney Jones and Nathan Nanfelt for the musical interlude; and to Jennifer Wellman and Aaron Yared for their contributions.

A very special thank you to all our sponsors for supporting us in honoring Dr. King.

KCBA would also like to share our gratitude to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee for all their work in making the Luncheon such a successful community event:
