October 2012 Bar Bulletin

Letters to the Editor

Dear members of the KCBA:

As I am sure most of you know by now, King County Proposition One, the measure to replace the deteriorating and dysfunctional Youth Service Center in Seattle, passed in the August primary election.

In retrospect, this was a remarkable event and there are many, many people to thank for their generosity, support and encouragement. No organization and no set of individuals, however, rank higher on the list of supporters than the leaders and members of the King County Bar Association.

When the court asked for help, you were there. When we told our story, you listened. At every turn KCBA leaders and members were there for us and for those we serve. This would have never happened without you. On behalf of the King County Superior Court, thank you for what you have done.

I promise you that we will build a Children and Family Justice Center that will meet the needs of the citizens of our county and will make you all proud.

Richard F. McDermott
Presiding Judge
