It has been the kind of day you look forward to in the dead of winter, all sunshine and light breezes and 80 degrees outside, and fresh cherries to snack on with nothing on the agenda besides recreational reading and drafting this column.1 Nevertheless, guilt has finally prodded me to put down my New York Times Book Review, abandon my spot in the early evening sunshine, and work on this column.

Partnership Pronouncements

Jeffrey Smoot has joined Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker as a partner in the firm's Creditor/Debtor Group. According to the firm's web page, Smoot represents individuals, business owners and closely held companies in litigation, debt and insolvency proceedings, including contract and lien enforcement and collection.

C. Rachal Winger has joined Lee & Hayes as a patent attorney in the firm's Seattle office. She is a member of the Chemical and Life Sciences Practice Group. She advises clients on a variety of intellectual property matters in the area of life sciences. Winger was previously with K&L Gates.

Associate Additions

Jessica Stevenson has joined Tousley Brain Stephens as a litigation associate. She was previously counsel for the Washington State Senate Commerce and Labor Committee.

Rachel Haller has joined the Chemical and Life Sciences Practice Group of Lee & Hayes as an associate. According to the firm's web page, she assists clients with the development of their intellectual property portfolios, and drafts and prosecutes both U.S. and foreign patent applications in various areas of life sciences.

Bernice Johnson Blessing has joined Cairncross & Hempelmann as an associate. Blessing's practice includes retail, hotel and restaurant establishments; corporate finance and business transactions; employment; and real estate.

Joe Stockton recently joined Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt as an associate. Stockton focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, construction, real estate development and EB-5 financing. He has experience representing owners, contractors, subcontractors and hotel developers in federal and state courts and in arbitration. Prior to joining Schwabe, Stockton worked in the Construction Group at Ashbaugh Beal.
