John Ruhl Appointed to Bench
Former KCBA President John Ruhl has been appointed to the King County Superior Court bench by Governor Jay Inslee. Ruhl will fill the seat held by retiring Judge Jay White, who retired effective February 28. Ruhl's term was effective April 1.
Ruhl, a member of Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland PLLC in Seattle, has been a practicing attorney for more than 30 years. He is the founding president and past Board member for the Dispute Resolution Center of King County and was instrumental in helping to found VotingforJudges.org, a nonpartisan website designed to provide voters with more information about candidates for judicial office.
"John has a sterling reputation in the legal community and is widely recognized by his peers for his experience and leadership," Gov. Inslee said in announcing the appointment on March 7. "I'm confident John will be an outstanding addition to the bench."
In other Superior Court news, Judge Joan Dubuque has announced her retirement from the bench, effective May 1. Gov. Inslee is expected to appoint her replacement shortly.
