Lately, I've been bird watching. Not in the traditional sense with binoculars and a notebook, but only the birds that watch me back. The sparrows sit on my deck railing and stare at me and chirp like they expect me to understand them. They have food and water so it must be something else that I'm not quite grasping. The other birds who watch me back are the gulls at my neighborhood Ivar's. The gulls are a lot clearer about what they want. They want my fries, and they're annoyed that I'm not throwing fries at them fast enough.
