September 2012 Bar Bulletin

Law Library

September Happenings

By Rita Dermody

September is the month when people come back together again after summer vacations. Hopefully, they have had a chance to rest and come back with a renewed spirit and energy.

September is a month of due dates. The Public Law Library's Annual Report is filed with the Metropolitan King County Council by the first Monday of September. The county executive presents his proposed budget for 2013, which usually includes funding for the Public Law Library at the Maleng Regional Justice Center.

It also is a month of new beginnings and renewals. Kids and young adults return to school. Two clinics will begin providing services in the Law Library in September. Columbia Legal Services' Legal Financial Obligation Clinic, formerly held in White Center, will meet once a month in the Law Library. The Young Lawyers Division of the King County Bar Association will hold a weekly, walk-in clinic in the Law Library.

These two clinics will join the weekly Neighborhood Legal Clinic and the Debt Collection Defense Clinic. The Law Library is excited to host these clinics.

September brings a season of renewal and continuation of services for the public. We are pleased to be a part.
