July 2012 Bar Bulletin
Changes at the Public Law Library
By Rita Dermody
"Without access to information, there is no justice. The Public Law Library of King County aids all persons with their need for legal information by providing legal materials, training, education, and services in a welcoming and positive environment."
This is our new mission statement, recently adopted by the Board of Trustees. Our new mission statement confirms our commitment that our services and resources are available to all - the bench, the bar and the public - and that we will provide access to legal information through legal resources, education and training.
Another major change is the design of the Public Law Library at the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC). Over the next year, the King County District Court, formerly located in the Kent Municipal Court building, will move into the MRJC.
As a part of this move, parts of the MRJC will undergo a major remodeling. In order to accommodate the move, the Law Library will relinquish some of its space. Most of the regional reporters have been recycled. As a result of this project, we gain more efficient use of the space and a new conference room. Construction should be done by the end of July.
Please come by and see our new space.
