Kathryn Battuello, an assistant attorney general for the State of Washington, has been elected to the position of King County Bar Association second vice president effective July 1. As provided in the Association's bylaws, she will become KCBA president on July 1, 2016.
Battuello has a long history of leadership within the bar, having served as a King County Bar Foundation trustee since 2006, and as the KCBF president in 2010-11. Most recently she served as co-chair of the bar's successful 125th Anniversary Endowment Campaign, which raised more than $1.1 million for pro bono services and minority law student scholarships.
She has worked as an assistant attorney general since 2008. Currently she is assigned to the Healthcare Practice Team at University of Washington Division, after several years as a litigator in the Torts Division, where her focus was primarily on defending state agencies and higher education institutions in employment, employment discrimination and civil rights cases. From 2000-07, Battuello served as a graduate teaching assistant while pursuing a master's degree in public health, and thereafter joined the faculty at the University of Washington as a research assistant professor. She also has five years of private practice experience at Moody, Battuello, and McIvor, and additional 10 years of experience as an associate and partner at Karr Tuttle Campbell.
Battuello received her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of New Mexico and her juris doctorate from Duke University School of Law. She also holds a master's degree in public health from the University of Washington.
