Following the Money in Referendum and Initiative Campaigns - Speaker Series

Itself the creation of a ballot initiative (Initiative 276 in 1972), the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) plays a vital role in regulating the campaign financing of referendums and initiatives. One of the PDC's most important tasks is reporting campaign contribution information to the public.

The Referendum and Initiative Project (RIP) of the KCBA Public Policy Committee has identified ballot measure financing regulation as one of the key areas for further investigation and possible reform. To that end, the Committee has invited Nancy Krier, general counsel for the PDC, to speak with the group on the commission's role in regulating the financing of referendum and initiative efforts.

The second installment of the RIP Speaker Series, "Following the Money," with Krier as guest speaker, will be held on May 29 from noon to 1:30p.m. at the KCBA offices.

Krier has been PDC general counsel since 2007 and previously served in the position through the Attorney General's Office beginning in 1999. Before being assigned to the commission, Krier worked with the Attorney General's Office for more than 20 years as senior counsel, senior assistant attorney general, and chief of the Licensing and Administrative Law Division.

The RIP Speaker Series is open to all KCBA members. Please RSVP to Heather Mullin at if you plan to attend.
