Breakfast With Champions Raises the Bar

The King County Bar Foundation's 12th annual fundraiser, the Breakfast With Champions, attracted more than 1,000 guests to the Westin Hotel on March 22, and raised $286,000 in sponsorships, cash and pledges. Proceeds from the Breakfast support the Foundation's pro bono civil legal aid and diversity programs.
The event, once again emceed by Charlie Burdell, included a witty and thought-provoking keynote address by Mara Liasson, a political correspondent for National Public Radio. Liasson's reports on politics and policy, with a focus on the White House and Congress, can be heard regularly on "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition." At the Breakfast, she shared her insights on the changing face of American politics and the Republican primaries, as well as her thoughts about the upcoming general election.
Zeshan Khan shared his experience as a volunteer for two of the King County bar's pro bono programs. He reminded those in attendance that their contributions enable him and 1,200 other volunteer attorneys and legal assistants to provide much-needed help to low-income, King County residents.
