Law Library Introduces WestLawNext Patron Access
The Public Law Library is pleased to announce access to WestLawNext Patron Access. For many years, the Law Library has provided access to WestLaw for all users of the libraries. Recently Thomson Reuters completely revamped WestLaw and made available WestLaw Next Patron Access to public law libraries.
The initial level of searching is similar to searching Google. Your search will examine all databases in the Law Library's subscription. The results will show you the number of hits in 13 core categories, such as cases, statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, secondary sources, etc.
At this point you can narrow your search using filters such as date, jurisdiction, etc. You also may search for terms that appear in your search results. Boolean logic searches have not disappeared. Your opportunity to use Boolean logic is a step that you can take later in the process.
With WestLawNext you will be able to download your search results to a flash drive or send them to yourself via email.
Watch the Law Library's website for upcoming classes on searching WestLawNext. You may ask a staff member for a quick overview or attend one of our classes in person or via Webex. Please call if you have any questions.
We look forward to introducing you to WestLawNext Patron Access.
