This month's Bar Bulletin theme is "Progress," which kind of fits Bar Talk since we focus a lot on people progressing in their careers. In any event, "Progress" is certainly a better theme for Bar Talk than the "Doom" theme we featured a couple months ago.

New Firm Owners

Cairncross & Hempelmann recently announced that Michael Beers, Stephanie Grassia and Charles Newton have been named principals of the firm. Beers is a member of the firm's Corporate Finance & Business Transactions group. He represents market-leading and middle market companies in mergers and acquisitions, and debt and equity financing. Grassia is a member of the firm's Litigation and Insurance Coverage groups. Her core practice is principally focused on disputes between policyholders and their insurers. Newton is a member of the firm's Litigation group. He was previously with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. He cur­rently advises corporate and individual clients on a full range of commercial disputes.

Richard Moore and Marni Wright have joined Socius Law Group, PLLC as members. Moore and Wright were formerly with GordonDerr, LLP. They concentrate their practices in real estate transactions. Adam Asher has also become a member of the firm. He concentrates his practice in real estate and business litigation.

Jeffrey Grant and Lindsey Pflugrath have become shareholders in Skellenger Bender, PS. Grant's practice centers on general litigation and criminal defense. Pflugrath is a member of the firm's Commercial Law group and focuses her practice on general litigation, construction law and representation of design professionals.

Curran Law Firm, PS announced David Huhs has become a principal of the firm. His practice includes representing businesses, landlords, contractors, and homeowner and condominium associations in litigation, business and transactional matters.

Heidi Eckel Alessi and C. Rachel Winger have been named partners in K&L Gates LLP's Seattle office. Alessi advises employers on employee benefits, executive compensation, and health, wellness and cafeteria plans. Winger focuses her practice on intellectual property law with an emphasis on life sciences, patent-related matters.
