Volunteer to help the Housing Justice Project provide free legal assistance to low-income renters (tenants) facing eviction in King County, Washington.
Volunteer opportunities
- Legal Assistant: Conduct client intake interviews, collect court pleadings and relevant documents, data entry into clinic database, on-line research for case information, draft pleadings under supervision of attorneys, interact with attorneys and court staff.
- Attorney: Consult with clients to provide counsel and advice, assist tenant in drafting, serving and filing responsive pleadings, negotiate with landlord’s attorneys, limited representation at unlawful detainer show cause hearings.
- Internship/Externship: Assist with the legal clinic and help with related projects.
