In a September 25, 2019 letter to the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors, the Washington Supreme Court announced that it has decided to retain an integrated bar structure "for now." The vote on this recommendation, which originated with the Supreme Court Work Group on Bar Structure, was 5-4 with Justices Fairhurst, Owens, Gonzalez, McCloud, and Yu in favor and Justices Johnson, Madsen, Stephens, and Wiggins dissenting.
