Committee Members Needed
With an elected judiciary comes a great need for expert opinions by voters about the qualifications of those seeking office. Rating judicial candidates for election or appointment is consequently one of the most important public services the bar provides to the public.
You don't need to be a trial lawyer or even regularly appear in court to participate on this committee. We do require that you have been admitted to the bar for at least three years before serving. You also may not endorse or contribute to judicial candidates while you serve on this committee and for one year after service.

Activities
New (and returning) members attend an orientation session and an observation session before participating in screening meeting as a voting member. Half day meetings take place as needed to screen 2-3 candidates for election or appointment. Committee members interview references prior to the screening session. Members are appointed to staggered 3-year terms. The committee includes both attorney and lay members, but no current judicial officers.
