A frozen corpse preserved at minus 196ºC in liquid nitrogen. That’s what’s on my mind as I stroll around the Imperial Palace in my Tokyo neighborhood, on a cloudless August morning. My thoughts momentarily travel to a facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, filled with metal tanks containing dead bodies in the deep freeze. The 14-year-old lies there, awaiting the moment of revival. She could be thawed and resurrected decades or centuries later. Her name is Yuki.
