Companies that pay individuals to operate personal vehicles for the transportation of people or goods are vital components of the ever-growing “sharing economy.” The most well-known of these companies are ridesharing companies such as Uber and Lyft.
Similar companies, such as Postmates, Doordash and Grubhub, offer food delivery, as opposed to transporting people. These services have also become more common. In fact, within the last year, more than half of all Americans have used a ridesharing service.
