I recently had the pleasure of speaking to King County Superior Court Judge Andrea Darvas about her advice for practitioners. Here is some of her sage advice:
1. Proposed orders
Do not state, “Done in open Court,” within the signature block of proposed orders. In practice, King County Superior Court judges sign proposed orders in chambers, not in open Court. Rather, consider stating, “Signed on this [blank] day,” etc. You should not state, “Ordered, Adjudged and Decreed.” King County Superior Court judges feel that this is an archaic practice. “Ordered” will suffice.
