According to the now-recognized source Wikipedia, “The courthouse is part of the iconography of American life and is equivalent to the city hall as the symbol of the municipium in European free cities.”
Our courthouse should be safe and welcoming to all. When individuals are afraid to come to the courthouse, our fundamental mission is in jeopardy. Whether people are victims of domestic violence seeking protection orders, witnesses, jurors or other necessary parties, their reluctance to come to court undermines due process and access to justice.
