Funny-not-so-funny old freshman college story came to mind as I listened to rants and raves about the new Inflation Reduction Act and its provisions beefing up IRS enforcers. I fondly remembered one of those special IRS agents, who was truly special, and the dad of a very good life-long friend.

Super conservative, very principled, straight-laced, white-shirted, salt-and-pepper-mustached, this IRS special agent was coming to visit his son, “M” — a college bud — for a weekend.
