April 18th usually gives me a little endorphin boost. No it’s not post tax filing relief. It’s nostalgic. Having lived in the Boston area for seven years (in part, a block away from Heartbreak Hill, the apex of the Boston Marathon route) I enjoyed watching the Patriot’s Day runners. And as a former marathon runner, I can tell you: it’s a blending of folks from all walks of life, ages, bonding for 26.2 grueling miles of individual effort but collective experience.
Today I am sad and perplexed in learning that the Boston Athletic Association will prohibit runners from Russia and Belarus from competing in this year’s Boston Marathon....
