When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, I was no stranger to uncertainty. Since my divorce about a decade earlier, I had pulled the plug on a marriage marred by financial infidelity, moved west from Minnesota to Washington with my four school-age children and little money, and started a law firm in Seattle where I barely knew a soul.
