An attorney-friend identifies as LGBTQ+. I’ve known them since our days in didies and, with any luck, until the shroud;1 they are intelligent, compassionate, wryly self-deprecating, and a legal rock star. They used to work at a medium-size firm — the “Goldilocks” firm: not too big (you’ll work too much) and not too small (you’ll work too much — but were let go for failing to fit in with the firm’s “culture.” I remember when they called me to vent, as I was flipping through a book of old Doonesbury, I mean, Bloom County comic strips.2
