It was November of 1975 when the late Judge Beezer informed the membership of the Seattle-King County Bar Association that the SKCBA had received a mailgram from the President of the American Bar Association regarding the ABA’s “examination of the general question of advertising legal services.”1 Judge Beezer asked the members of the SKCBA to share their views about lawyers advertising their services because “[w]hen representatives of the Seattle-
King County Bar attend a conference to examine the issue of advertising, it would be appropriate for them to be aware of the views of our membership.”2

I suspect most of us learned of the proposed Rules...
