Don’t Close Down Civil Justice, Mr. County Executive. Our civil and family law justice system is in danger of being largely shut down for three years for lack of funding. The federal covid budget proposed by the King County Executive, Dow Constantine, results in almost no funding for backlogged criminal cases. Mr. Constantine has proposed that the Courts receive less than one percent of some 440 million dollars of coronavirus relief received by the County. We made a clear case to the Executive. He made an unfortunate policy choice.
