A courthouse is more than a building, more than a location. It is the physical manifestation of justice in our society. When members of the public who seek justice, and the employees whose mission it is to ensure justice, cannot enter or leave a courthouse without being assaulted, harassed and injured, access to justice is denied.

My order of December 2, closing the Third Avenue entrance to the Courthouse, appeared to some as a sudden decision, but to anyone who worked here or attended court proceedings and entered Third Avenue...
