2010 KCBA Annual Bench-Bar Conference

University of Washington School of Law

Did you miss the annual November 11 Bench-Bar Conference? If so, you didn’t get to hear presentations from and interact with the twenty-three judges from all court levels who attended this year’s program, including Seattle Municipal Court, King County District Court, King County Superior Court, the Washington State Court of Appeals, and the Washington State Supreme Court. Conference highlights included a forum on civil practice issues that featured the chair of the local court rules committee, a plenary on appellate practice featuring two members from the Division I bench, a thoughtful and humorous ethics session on judicial conduct, and a panel featuring King County Council members debating the county budget’s impact on the judicial system. Special thanks to King County Superior Court Presiding Judge Bruce Hilyer for his support of this conference.

The 2010 Bench Bar Conference was conducted at the UW School of Law on November 11. There were over 100 attorneys and judges that came together to discuss various topics from “State of the Courts” to “Funding Challenges for the King County Justice System.”
