Work with volunteer clinic assistants and clinic coordinators to ensure the legal clinics run smoothly.  Handle all volunteer scheduling which mostly runs on a quarterly basis and occasionally on a semi-annual or annual basis.  Coordinate day to day clinic operation by ensuring adequate volunteer staffing when last minute changes occur.  Update clinic resources frequently.  Address and facilitate resolution of volunteer concerns and client concerns about volunteers.  Conduct monthly site visits to observe operations and update host building instructions as needed.  This position reports to the Neighborhood Legal Clinics Program Lead.

Volunteer Management

  • Create quarterly, bi-annual and annual volunteer schedules using VolunteerSchedulerPro (VSP)   
  • Track confirmations of volunteers on VSP 
  • Ensure Clinic Coordinators are following up with unconfirmed volunteers
  • Coordinate volunteer trade requests on VSP
  • Ensure client schedule is modified appropriately when volunteer absences are anticipated
  • Respond when volunteers fail to show up for a shift or have become uncommunicative
  • Create and send daily client schedules to scheduled volunteers
  • Enter and update volunteer information in LegalServer, VSP and NLC listserv
  • Mediate and address quality control issues and client concerns
  • In collaboration with other NLC staff, track volunteer concerns related to clients
  • Meet regularly with NLC staff to discuss and review any NLC related issues
  • Assist NLC Program Associate to monitor and respond to quality control systems for volunteers and clients
  • Work with NLC Program Associate to develop and conduct volunteer training
  • Mange weekly phone clinic at KCBA office every Monday evening from 5:30 -6:30
  • Participate in community events as requested by NLC Program Associate 

Clinic Coordination Management

  • Input clinic dates into LegalServer database on a quarterly basis, adjusting the number of clinic appointments depending on volunteer availability each quarter
  • Work with NLC Client Services Assistant to reschedule or cancel client appointments as necessary
  • Ensure clinic resource boxes are maintained

NLC Intake & Referral Line  

  • Provide back-up support and training for interns
  • Provide phone support as needed


  • Visit clinic sites quarterly with the goal of visiting each clinic annually.  These visits may not necessarily occur during normal work hours
  • Track receipt of client intakes and contact volunteers for missing information as needed
  • Restock clinics as needed.  Work with Client Services Assistant to have Administrative Interns fill this roll
  • Work with NLC Program Associate on NLC sub-committees as needed
  • Collaborate with NLC on program needs and trends
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin/Cantonese, Vietnamese or Russian preferred

This is a non-exempt, full-time position (40 hours/week) based in Seattle, WA with flexible hours as needed to cover evening meetings and events. Salary range is $40,000 - $43,000 yearly (depends on experience), with excellent benefits including employer-paid healthcare coverage; public transit subsidy, and 401K plan with automatic employer contributions after one year of service.
