Long-time King County Bar member, former KCBA Board Trustee, and a KCBA Mentor of the Year winner, Theo Angelis was appointed to the Washington State Supreme Court by Governor Bob Ferguson on March 9. He will replace retiring Justice Barbara Madsen.
“Theo’s impressive qualifications and accomplishments speak for themselves,” Governor Ferguson said. “His colleagues praise his legal expertise, humility and integrity. Even opposing counsel who faced him in court describe Theo as ‘the smartest lawyer I’ve ever faced,’ and a decent, honorable person. He will serve the people of Washington well on our highest court.”

Make a lasting impact at a moment when your kindness matters more than ever.
King County Bar's pro bono programs are doing more work with fewer resources, and yet our commitment to a more accessible, more compassionate legal system has never been stronger.
As the fundraising arm of the Bar, King County Bar Foundation (KCBF) supports the programs that meet people at some of the hardest moments of their lives: domestic violence survivors seeking safety, grandparents stepping in as caregivers, tenants on the brink of eviction, and individuals trying to clear old convictions so they can rebuild their lives.
This year, the need grew, and our teams answered. Despite shrinking grants and donations, our pro bono programs delivered more help to more people than ever before. Your gift ensures that when someone reaches out for help, we can say yes.
A little kindness creates a big impact.

Help shape a more diverse and equitable legal profession!
Join the Anti-Racism & Equity Committee.
The King County Bar’s Anti-Racism and Equity (A.R.E.) Committee advances KCBA’s commitment to inclusion by setting benchmarks to increase diversity on the bar and bench, building strong partnerships with local minority bar associations, and guiding the allocation of minority scholarship grants through the King County Bar Foundation.
The Bar's minority law scholarships started in 1970 as a bold $10,000 fundraising effort and has grown into one of Washington State’s largest scholarship programs for minority law students. Today, the committee helps steward $150,000 in annual scholarships for students at the University of Washington School of Law and Seattle University School of Law, creating lasting impact for future generations of lawyers.
All are welcome. Join us and help move this important work forward.
Meetings: 12:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month.
Interested? Contact Bridget Schuster at bridgets@kcba.org. Or go to your MyKCBA page and add any committee from there.
