The King County Bar Association is soliciting nominations for four seats on its Board of Trustees and two officer positions, as well as for its annual awards.
The trustee and officer positions to be filled this year are:
- Two Central District Trustees (2 nominees for each)
- One East District Trustee (2 nominees)
- One South District Trustee (2 nominees)
- Secretary/Trustee (2 nominees)
- Second Vice President (2 nominees)
The KCBA Nominating Committee is chaired by immediate Past President John Ruhl. Please email him at jruhl@eisenhowerlaw.com or Kathleen Jensen at KathleenJ@KCBA.org to suggest KCBA members whom you believe would be good candidates for these positions.
The Committee seeks broad diversity for the Board of Trustees and officers, including ethnicity, gender, practice area, firm size and geographic diversity. Nominees must be members in good standing of the KCBA. All positions have three-year terms. Expectations for KCBA officers and trustees can be found at http://www. kcba.org/scriptcontent/KCBA/aboutkcba/leadershipop.cfm.
Bylaws provide that there must be at least two nominees for each vacancy. The bylaws also require a succession to the presidency. The successful candidate for second vice president becomes the sole nominee the following year for first vice president. The first vice president becomes the sole nominee for president the following year.
The Nominating Committee will submit a report to the Board of Trustees on February 20. Ballots will be mailed to members on or about April 10 and must be returned by 5 p.m. on May 2 for canvass on May 5. New terms begin July 1.
Nominations for KCBA’s annual awards must be received by Friday, February 8. Submissions should be made in writing to Associate Director Kathleen Jensen, King County Bar Association, 1200 Fifth Ave, Suite 600, Seattle, WA 98101 or by email to KathleenJ@KCBA.org.
