KCBA Names New Director

The King County Bar Association is pleased to announce that, after a nationwide search, Andrew J. Prazuch (pronounced Prah-zu) has been selected to serve as its new executive director, starting January 1.

Andy, as he prefers to be called, has had 16 years of experience with non-profit organizations, including 12 with bar-related organizations. Most recently, he served as executive director of the American Immigration Law Foundation, a national non-profit bar foundation located in Washington, D.C., where one of his important initiatives was to launch a policy research center on immigration issues.

It seems quite fitting that the King County Bar Association, founded to discipline lawyers involved in the anti-Chinese riots of 1886, will have a new executive director who also has been a strong advocate for immigrants.

Prazuch also has had many years of experience in government relations, advocating on behalf of various professions and industries, including attorneys and educators. He served as special assistant to a U.S. senator and as a policy assistant at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and received his B.A. in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Prazuch will work with current Executive Director Alice Paine until her retirement on January 18. More information about Prazuch’s background will be in the January Bar Bulletin. Please help us welcome him!
