On June 13, at its annual Judicial Appreciation Luncheon, King County Washington Women Lawyers honored several individuals who have made a significant contribution to advancing access to justice for women and minorities.
The Honorable Ronald E. Cox, of Division One of the Court of Appeals, received the Judge of the Year Award for his outstanding contribution to advancing women and minorities in the profession. The Honorable Monica J. Benton, U.S. District Court Magistrate for the Western District of Washington, received the Vanguard Award for her leadership on issues affecting women and minorities and her dedicated mentoring of law students and young attorneys.
KCBA Executive Director Alice Paine received the President’s Award for contributions made over her many years of service to the bar, including her oversight of the expansion of KCBA’s legal services to the poor and unrepresented. Attorney General Rob McKenna received the Special Contribution to the Judiciary Award for his tireless work on behalf of domestic violence victims in Washington.
