KCBA Dinner To Honor Year's Best

KCBA's Annual Dinner will be held June 21 at the Seattle Grand Hyatt Hotel and will bring to life the personal and professional achievements of this year's award recipients.

Tsongas Litigation Consulting, which has donated its efforts, will present a multi-media tribute to honor each distinguished winner, including a first-hand look at the achievements of the Guant?namo Bay Defense team as they argued the Hamdan case before the U.S. Supreme Court, earning the team this year's Outstanding Lawyer Award.

The Outstanding Judge Award will be presented to Washington Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander, highlighting a career spanning his years from the trial court bench to the state's highest judicial office. The William L. Dwyer Outstanding Jurist Award will be presented to the Honorable Betty Fletcher for excelling on the bench and for her numerous contributions to the legal profession.

KCBA also will honor two special women who have held top leadership positions in the state and local bar associations. Jan Michels will receive the Friend of the Legal Profession Award for her leadership of the Washington State Bar Association and KCBA will bestow the Helen Geisness Award on its very own Alice Paine, who will retire in January after nearly 20 years of dedicated service to the association and the legal profession.

Paul Fjelstad will be honored with this year's President's Award and the Pro Bono Awards will be bestowed on Erika Lim and Andrew Guy/Stoel Rives LLP. Lisa Hayes will receive the Outstanding Young Lawyer award for her contributions to the community and the profession as a new lawyer.

The dinner also will feature an auction for such prized items as vacations in Hawaii and Spain, and a special presentation by Seattle's own William Neukom, president-elect of the American Bar Association.
