The veteran "Johnson & Associates" squad has captured the 2006 Seattle Lawyers Basketball League crown. It finished the season with an 11-1 record.
The title tilt was a bruising battle on June 8 between J&A, which was the No. 1 playoff seed, against the scrappy squad from Stanislaw Ashbaugh, which entered the playoffs as the No. 6 seed with a 7-4 record, but fought its way to the championship game. It was a fitting finale as J&A was able to avenge its only loss of the 2006 season.
Johnson & Associates is not a law firm, but a team of nine lawyers, many of whom are practicing law in small firms. The team takes its name from Larry Bird wannabee and league Commissioner Anthony C. Clark (Willamette, '87); Eric C. Hanson (Seattle Univ., '96); Robert Iannucci (Boston Univ., '88); Joshua M. Lipsky (Georgetown, '95); Eric S. Nelson (Pepperdine, '92); Charles T. Paglialunga (UPS, '92); Robert J. "Jack" Slavik (Seattle Univ., '96); and Shannon P. Smith (UPS, '88).
