Correction: Clerk’s Office Guide
The “King County Clerk’s Office Guide” in January’s Bar Bulletin incorrectly stated that “the name, address, and Bar number of the submitting attorney should be clearly printed on the first page of each pleading or other paper.” This is unclear and confusing.
Attorneys should continue to list their WSBA numbers in the signature block of their filings pursuant to CR 11, and list addresses on pleadings and other papers pursuant to CR 10. We apologize for this error.
The article was condensed from the 2004 version of The Washington Lawyer’s Practice Manual by the Bar Bulletin editor. Neither Judge Doerty nor anyone from the Clerk’s Office was given an opportunity to review or update the article for the Bar Bulletin. The Clerk’s Office is in the process of a major rewrite of the “King County Clerk’s Office Guide.”
We expect that the re-write will be completed and published on the Clerk’s website, www.metrokc.gov/kcscc, in February. The entire Lawyer’s Practice Manual is being updated for 2005.
