Union Gospel Mission Legal Department Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission Legal Services (UGMLS) will hold its first Volunteer Appreciation Celebration April 22. Last year, volunteer attorneys and law students donated more than 850 hours of free legal service to homeless men and women. The Mission will honor those who have given so willingly of their time and talents.

The reception will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2004 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mission’s Men’s Shelter, 318 2nd Avenue Extension South, near Pioneer Square.

The Union Gospel Mission has been providing a broad range of services to the homeless community since 1932. UGMLS was established in 1999, to continue the Mission’s goal of providing help for the whole individual. As clients take proactive steps to mend, both physically and spiritually, they are also encouraged to address legal issues, which are often integral to making a fresh start. With the support of volunteer lawyers and law students, UGMLS is able to staff regular legal aid clinics and help clients as they deal with the past and look to the future.

To receive an invitation, contact Esther Park at epark@ugm.org or (206) 622-5177 ext. 119.
