Phoning for Justice and Diversity
King County Bar Foundation trustees assembled earlier this year for their annual fund raising Phon-a thon.
Every day from 9:00 to 11:00 AM that week, the Bar’s large conference room was abuzz with voices extolling the important work of the Foundation funded justice and diversity programs. Donors with completed pledges were asked to sign on again with another four to five year pledge; donors who made contributions through the check-off on the KCBA Membership statement were invited to join one of the three Foundation giving circles: The Presidents Council; $1,000 pledge or $250 each year for four years.
The Leadership Circle: $2,500 pledge or $500 each year for five years.
The Foundation Cabinet: $5,000 pledge or $1,000 each year for five years.
Although final figures won’t be available until all pledge cards are returned, Dan Gandara, Foundation Vice President and event organizer estimates new revenue of between $50,000 and $60,000.
Phoning participants were enticed by a chance to win a dinner for two, compliments of Assaggios Ristorante, or tickets for two to the June 10 Mariners game, compliments of Ticketmaster.
Phones for the phonathon were donated by Bartell Drugs and T-Mobile. n
KCBA Trustees Hal Hodgins and Susan McIntosh join KCBF trustees JoAnne Tompkins and Chris Wells for 2002-2003 Phon-a-thon.
